The Church of Santa Maria Assunta stands in the ancient village, with a façade of simple late Romanesque forms, with a beautiful portal (note under the cusp the fragment of a Roman sarcophagus depicting a satire and a nymph) surmounted by a rose window. To the right is the elegant bell tower, completed in 1114 (epigraph), with 5 floors and mullions. The interior, with three aisles with six-pointed arches, with columns and carved capitals, features Romanesque and Gothic characters, and has traces of the decoration of votive frescoes (St. Paul, XII-XIII century, Christ in the cross between the Virgin and St. John, of the XIV century, Madonna and Child, of the XV century). At the beginning of the left nave, a tempera table (Crucifix between the Virgin, St. John the Evangelist and SS Maria Maddalena, Francesco and Antonio di Padova) dated 1562 (but perhaps it is of an earlier time and the date refers only to the addition of the last two saints), coming from the ruined church of St. Francis. On the main altar, a valuable statue of the Assumption of golden lime wood, of the Tuscan sculptor of the 16th century Iacopo da Maiano; furthermore, Holy Bishop and Miracle of the saint, lunettes of Gerolamo Troppa; the church also has a precious fifteenth-century Pietà in German polycarbonate terracotta.
